Gateway Dockdogs had a great turnout at the Dog Days Canine Cannonball event at the Lake of the Ozarks. GWDD was represented by 31 different teams. If you have not been able to make it to this event in the past, I highly recommend putting this event on your 2010 calendar! Lots of fun was had by all. We even had one team that arrived at the competition by boat - Carol with Snickers and Ollie. If you go to the DockDogs Forum and look under the GWDD and Mo*Kan section you will find several links to pictures from the event. The event raised $598.12 for Chase Away Canine Cancer and GWDD came in second in the club challenge so we did not have to wash dogs this year.
Two GWDD members made it into the Speed Retrieve Finals. Bill and Laker won 1st place in the Speed Retrieve finals with a time of 6.116 and Julie and Snicker placed 8th with a time of 7.980. We had 11 different teams competing in Speed Retrieve and several of them set new personal bests. Barry and Jessie placed 3rd in the Big Air Pro Finals with a jump of 23’1”. Julie and Snickers placed 6th in the Big Air Semi Pros Finals with a jump of 18’8”. Ashley and Bailey placed 3rd with a jump of 16’ 1” and Doug and Misty placed 4th with a jump of 15’10” in the Big Air Amateur Finals. Julie and Snickers placed 5th in Extreme Vertical with a grab of 6’2” and they also placed 4th in Iron Dog. Way to go GWDD!!!!
The highlight of the weekend was the Young Handler Finals. Out of 8 young handlers, 6 of them were representing GWDD. You all made us proud! Tricia and Snickers placed 2nd Lauren and Shelby placed 3rd Katy and Tug placed 4th Haley and KC placed 6th Ashley and Sammie placed 7th Olivia and Maggie placed 8th
